It started with a morning birthday party for his buddy, Benjamin. I loved the idea of having a morning party! It was a perfect way to start the day! Henry was so tuckered out, he fell asleep immediately in the car.
After H's nap we headed to the Smyrna Spring Festival. The streets were lined with over 100 booths of food and crafts. (Sorry about the closed eyes, honey....it was the only shot I had!)
There were even live shows going on throughout the festival. We decided to stop for the puppet man.
Hank couldn't resist a shaved ice (grape flavor, of course) so Henry got his first experience with that wonderful - refreshing treat!
To escape from the madness, we went for a stroll around a nearby pond. It is filled with fish and ducks--and Henry had a lot of fun pointing them out to us.
After going back home to rest a bit, we decided to walk to a pizza place down the hill. A train track literally runs next to the restaurant, so we were hoping one would come by while we were eating--and it did! It doesn't look like it, but the train is zooming by in this photo. Henry kept saying, "choo choo, choo choo" as it was passing.
Once we got our fill of pizza, we kept walking to a nearby yogurt shop. Hank got an assortment for us all to enjoy.
On the l-o-n-g walk back home, Henry was holding a sucker that the waitress at the pizza place gave us with our check. We thought nothing of it, because he was just using it as a drum stick. WELL...he somehow figured out how to get the wrapper off and enjoyed another sweet treat. By the time we figured out what he was doing, he looked like this:
H-man, I hope you enjoyed your sugar-filled day. I doubt it will happen again any time soon!

Henry looked so hot and tired in those last photos!! I know he had a fun filled day and Mama a "little sugar" never hurt anybody!! It looks like he knew just what to do with that sucker!!
Shaved Ice, pizza, yogurt, suckers....oh my! What a balanced diet H had on Saturday! Fruit (shaved ice), veggies (pizza sauce), milk (yogurt) and of course pure sugar ....that IS one of the four food groups, isn't it?? Rhonda, I agree, babies are born with an innate sense of what to do with a sucker! Looks like a wonderful day...every child's dream: balloons, parks, puppets and yummy messy food! MB
Well that just looked like the best day! What a fun time to introduce all these new things to Henry! (And of course re-live them yourself! I bet there's something about having a little one that makes you slow down and remember the fun and excitement in the little things.)
